Today is the Dragon Boat Festival and grandpa's birthday. My sister and I have prepared a beautiful gouache for Grandpa. Happy birthday to Grandpa.
We bought grandpa's favorite gift to celebrate his birthday. My cousin Lele arrived at my grandfather's house early and called to urge us: "are you still here?"

"It's almost here. It's on its way." I said on my mother's cell phone. Would you hurry up your motorcycle? My brother is in a hurry!

When we arrived at my grandfather's house, we wished him a happy birthday. My brother also brought his beloved accordion and performed a beautiful song "I love Tiananmen Square in Beijing" for us. As for me, I performed Swan Dance and sang a few songs. My sister also reported and sang. At the beginning, we performed our favorite programs one by one. Later, my brother appeared in every program. He was dancing with me. It was so lively!

Grandpa prepared fragrant rice dumplings for us, and there were many delicious food. My brother and sister and I ate and drank. The food was really delicious!

We had a really good time today.

2.高中生端午节英语日记 篇二

Today is the Dragon Boat Festival. My family of four went home to make zongzi. When I got home, I asked my grandma to tell her, "grandma, why don't you teach me how to make zongzi? Grandma smiled and said," OK, let's start now!
Grandma also wrapped up zongzi. I took out two large and small zongzi leaves in the way of grandma, folded a corner in the way of grandma, put a bit of soaked glutinous rice on the folded corner cylinder, stuffed a large piece of fat pork, and covered it tightly with glutinous rice. I began to feel a little complacent, thinking: a simple zongzi can't help the smart me. But when I covered the rice dumplings again, the glutinous rice didn't listen to me like a naughty child and jumped out one after another. I was as anxious as ants on a hot pot. Fortunately, my grandmother helped me out by removing some sticky rice. I was relieved and a heavy stone in my heart was put down. After some small setbacks, I finally got to the last step - tying the palm rope. The zongzi had to be wrapped tightly before they tasted good. So I took the palm rope and tied the zongzi round and round. Then I gave it to grandma. At this time, I realized that making zongzi was a craft. It was very difficult to wrap it.

But this time I learned how to make zongzi, not to mention how happy I am!

Some holidays are so much fun that they catch on outside of their culture. The most obvious example is probably Christmas, which is celebrated around the world by people who aren't even Christian. Similarly, in recent years, the Dragon Boat Festival has moved beyond China to become an international holiday celebrated by people who may know little about the holiday's origins.

The Dragon Boat Festival is one of three major Chinese holidays, along with the Spring and Moon Festivals. Of the three, it is possibly the oldest, dating back to the Warring States Period in 227 B.C. The festival commemorates Qu Yuan, a minister in the service of the Chu Emperor. Despairing over corruption at court, Qu threw himself into a river. Townspeople jumped into their boats and tried in vain to save him. Then, hoping to distract hungry fish from his body, the people scattered rice on the water.

Over the years, the story of Qu's demise transformed into the traditions of racing dragon boats and eating zongzi – a kind of rice wrapped in bamboo leaves. The races have certainly captured the imagination of people from all over the world. Every spring there are nearly 60 dragon boat races held outside of China in cities from Vancouver to Sydney, from Gdańsk, Poland to Cape Town, South Africa. Canada alone has nearly 50 dragon boat teams and Germany has nearly 30.

So what is it about the Dragon Boat Festival that appeals to foreigners? “It's an unusual sport,” says one racer from Germany. “It's not like everybody's doing it. That's one of the reasons that there's such great team spirit in a dragon boat team – everybody feels like we're doing something special.” And what about the zongzi? “Ehhh, they're not bad, I guess,” he says. “Something of an acquired taste. I just haven't really acquired it yet.”

Looking forward to the stars and the moon, the Dragon Boat Festival has finally arrived. The family is busy making zongzi. The previous morning, my mother and grandmother took out the soaked glutinous rice, washed the leaves of zongzi, and prepared to start making zongzi.
I never made zongzi, so I said to my mother, "Mom, I can't make zongzi. Can you teach me?" Mother said, "OK, it's good to make zongzi, but it's difficult to make zongzi at the beginning. You have to be patient. First, fold the two bamboo leaves into a funnel shape. Note that you should roll them as tightly as possible, otherwise rice will leak when cooking." I followed my mother to make the rice dumpling leaves into a funnel.

"Then add glutinous rice, but don't fill it too full. If you like to eat red zongzi, you can put oneortwo small red dates in it."

"Before sealing, sprinkle some water on the glutinous rice, and then cover the rest of the zongzi leaves on the big mouth of the funnel. Now the zongzi has become a triangular cone, and then wrap the zongzi tightly with the rest of the zongzi leaves. Finally, tie the zongzi tightly with a rope or Malan leaves." This step is very critical. It is easy to say but difficult to do. The little rice dumpling leaf is very naughty. It just doesn't listen to me and "teases" me for a long time. When I wanted to wrap the zongzi tightly, there was always rice leaking out of it. I was so angry that I cried out. Finally, under the guidance of my mother, I wrapped a zongzi with great efforts. Although the shape doesn't look very beautiful, this is one of my bags.

Next, let's start cooking zongzi. First place the zongzi neatly in the pot, press the pot curtain on the zongzi, and then put a basin of water on the pot curtain. Finally, pour water along the edge of the pot and cook it over high heat for 40 minutes. The fragrant zongzi will come out of the pot.

On the morning of the Dragon Boat Festival, my mother tied colorful threads to me and told me not to break or discard them at will, but only in the first rain after the Dragon Boat Festival. My mother also told me the origin of the multicolored thread, which symbolizes the multicolored dragon. It can subdue ghosts and take away all diseases. We also planted wormwood at the door and hung paper gourds, which filled the house with a festive atmosphere.

After all this work in the morning, today's protagonist, zongzi, finally appeared! The white zongzi dipped in white sugar is really fragrant and sweet, soft and sticky, and delicious.

May 5 is the Dragon Boat Festival. The door is full of incense. Eat zongzi, sprinkle sugar, and let the dragon boat go into the water happily.
