At the Olympic Winter Games, curling consists of two events: a womens tournament and a mens tournament. Each tournament starts with 10 curling teams. Two teams play against each other at a time. The game is played on ice, and the two teams take turns pushing 19.1-kilogram stones towards a series of concentric rings or circles. The object is to get the stones as close to the centre of the rings as possible. One game consists of 10 ends (similar to innings in baseball). During each end, each four-person team throws (in fact, slides along the ice) eight stones two stones per person and 16 altogether. Team members sweep the ice clean in front of each stone to control the stones direction, known as its curl, and the stones speed. The team with the most points more stones closer to the centre of the rings at the conclusion of 10 ends, is the winner.

The Olympic Games are an international multi-sport event taking place every four years and comprising summer and winter games. Beginning in 776 BC, they were originally held in Olympia, Greece until 393 AD. In 1896, they were revived by a French nobleman, Pierre Frèdy, Baron de Coubertin, thus beginning the era of the Modern Olympic Games. It's well-known that Beijing held the 29th Olympic Games in 2008, which is a belt of the east and west culture. It advances the two different culture system's development. The 2022 Winter Olympics is around the corner. I sincerely hope it will be a great success.

三、关于冬奥会的英文作文

It was an evening on 18 November 2005 full of suspense for the final of the Olympism Contest, organised in partnership with the Olympic Museum. Five contestants took part before an enthusiastic, supportive audience made up of close friends, readers of the French daily newspaper and many members of the Friends of the Museum Association.

The contestants competed against each other in a thrilling Going for Gold-style contest. The evening began with three series of questions on the Games of Antiquity, the history of Olympism and the Olympic Games.

The final on Olympic champions then led to Denise Giaccolini, winning two tickets for the Opening Ceremony of the Games in Turin next year, which were offered by the IOC. Urs Lacotte, IOC Director General, personally awarded the prize to the winner.
