They can recognize themselves in a mirror, demonstrate empathy and altruism, and explore their environment with curiosity. They have very complex emotions and mourn the loss of their dead. They are able to use tools and show problem-solving skills. I find elephants to be incredibly fascinating creatures and they have my admiration and respect.
