Earth Hour 广东省佛山市高明区荷城第一小学 五（4）班 何晓岚 指导老师：杜婉玲 Do you know Earth Hour? It usually falls on the last weekend of March every year. On that day , many families , malls and business buildings will turn off the lights from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm of the local time. Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007. Many homes and businesses kept their lights off for one hour. Now Earth Hour has become a worldwide event. It aims to tell us to care for our home, the earth. It was Saturday. Many famous buildings and homes in Chinese cities joined the activity at 8:30 pm on March 28th 2009. They turned off the lights for Earth Hour. So did my family. Mother bought a lot of fruits .There were apples, bananas , grapes and so on. She also bought some candles . At eight thirty in the evening , we turned off all the lights and the TV in the house. We lighted some candles. We had a candle-lit party together. At the party, I sang songs for my family and grandparents told us interesting stories .We talked a lot . It was dark but we had a good time. How time flies! An hour passed and it was time to turn on the lights again. How happy my family were! Earth Hour is not only a message of hope but also a message of action. It’s our duty to save the earth. Everyone can make a difference. Will you join us ?
