How to enhance the motivation in the college English composition class摘要 在英语学习中，写作技能是一项非常重要的技能。然而，现阶段大学生们的写作动机逐渐减弱了。同时有很多老师还没有用到有效的方法去解决这一问题。根据这一情况，笔者就如何提高大学生写作的动机这一情况进行了探索。本文作者列举了五个老师可以使用的基本策略用以帮助学生爱上写作，并且写出优秀的文章。 关键词：英语写作 增加动机 大学生 基本策略 Writing skill is a very important skill in English learning. However, nowadays, students’ motivation towards the English writing class is generally week. And many teachers can not find any effective ways to solve the problem. According to this sever situation, the writer explores the solution of how to motivate students to write in English。 In this article the writer lists five basic strategies for English composition teacher to help their students love writing and write perfect English. Motivation refers to a person’s desire to pursue a goal or perform a task (Keller,Litchfied 2002). There are two kinds of motivations. The one is extrinsic motivation, and the other is intrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation occurs when one engages in a task for which there is no apparent reward except the pleasure of engaging in the activity. By contrast, extrinsic motivation occurs when one engages in task for external reward.(Lepper 1998). Therefore, the motivation we discussed here is intrinsic motivation, because it is stronger than extrinsic motivation. For English writing, only the students have strong intrinsic motivation can they love writing and write perfect English. There are five basic strategies in the following article. 1 put affective factors in to English teaching A more recently recommended approach to teaching writing use a cooperative activity is proposed in china’ English curriculum standards. The rational of the approach is social constructivism which emphasizes the dynamic nature of the interplay between teachers, students and tasks, provides a view of learning arising from interactions with others (Williams and…) 2 put English writing into other English teaching English teaching is a whole process. It mainly included four parts: reading, listening, speaking, and writing. Therefore, put writing into other English course will help students 3 use computer in English writing class Based on the computer technology, multimedia teaching is to common used today. There are many examples for teachers to use the computer in their teaching process. First teachers can use computer to show some vivid video and pictures on class to their students. Second, teachers and students can use e-mall to exchange information, ideas and insights and communication by e-mall is analogous to writing a letter.
