Taihu Lake is famous for “Taihu Stone”, which is often used in decorating traditional Chinese gardens. Taihu Lake is also famous for high-yielding fishing industry. Since the late of 1970s, the catching of fishes and crabs has been of great significance to the residents nearby, which is also a significant contributor to the local economy.
