Mr Blake and his family went on an excursion yesterday.

They all travelled by car.

Mrs Blake sat next to her husband.

The children,Alan,Wendy and Timmy,sat in the back.

Timmy,the youngest,kept asking questions.

While they were driving along.

Timmy noticed a car in front.

蒂米注意到前面一辆汽车
There was a big L on the back.

在车身后有个斗大的字母L
"What does that letter L stand for?"Timmy asked.

蒂米问:"那个字母L代表什么?"
"It stands for 'Learner,"his father answered.

"它代表'初学者'," 爸爸回答
Mr Blake began to overtake the car in front.

布莱克先生开始超前面那辆车
Just as he was passing it.

正要超过时
Timmy noticed another car ahead.

蒂米发现前方还有辆车
It had the letters G.B.on the back.

在车身后有GB两个字母
"What do the letters G.B. stand for,Timmy?" Mr Blake asked.

"蒂米,GB这两个字母代表什么?"布莱克先生问
"I suppose it's a learner who's getting better,"Timmy answered.

"我想它们指的是'已有进步'的初学者,"蒂米回答
