英本三班 余丹丹 20号 Globalization When we come across the word “globalization”, I believe that most of us can not give an accurate or vivid definition towards that ,especially for us students ,not like some professors who are devoting their whole life to researching the problem .However ,it would be an extreme misunderstanding if we hold the view that “globalization” is none of our business. It can be easily found in our daily life and we are living in the changeable environment in which we missed a lot as a result of globalization. Everybody is influenced by globalization. Firstly, language is globalized. As an official language of the US and the UK, English now is an universal language for most of people in the world .The Chinese government said that almost Chinese students should learn English. Thus in the process of learning a kind of foreign language, we would be implanted different culture and thoughts. At the same time, with the high development of the Chinese economy, more and more people come to China to learn our language. If the barrier existed in communication between different countries is eliminated, will it be difficult to know the more ? Secondly, economic globalization is more and more obvious .In the past, each country just closed the door that should have been open to the world to develop their economy. But now there are many multinationals which can be run in a multiple mode in different districts. At the present situation, many nations are depending on each other, because of the conditionality of economic globalization. We couldn’t refute that we indeed benefit from globalization, but the influence that globalization brings to us is inevitable. Firstly, in terms of studying English, when the trend of learning is transformed from learning mother tongue to learning foreign language, the local culture was undermined at the same time. We must honestly recognized that the consciousness of protecting our own traditional culture is abating. Secondly, economic globalization also leads to some environment problems .For the upsurge of GDP, China has become the most productive country of processing raw materials , which causes environment pollution in our land. This is also the reason why Switzerland which is the richest country in the world would like to spend ten times of its cost price on moving the primitive industry to China.
