Google------How Can I Say Love to You

The Google Story written by David A. Vise is a so-called biography of Google. The book demonstrates how consistent the founders have been to develop the search giant by building upon their vision of delivering a product focused on solving the problem of search, as globally as it gets. The attitudes and mantra of “Don’t Be Evil” is carried well through the book as well and evidence is seen in the many decisions made by Brin and Page to grow Google in a particular way. As we all know that Google is the world’s biggest searching provider online. However, its business domain and impact had exceeded the field of websites. This book aimed to explore how Google has grown up and out, how early technology choices enabled it to extend its reach without limit, how its pursuit of information of all kinds has brought it unrivaled power, and how its power affects the general interests of everyone, for better or for ill.

Idea+ Vigor=Great invention

Google takes something that works well and improves upon it in unexpected ways. From day one, Google has staked its reputation on developing innovative technologies and products that continue to change the way the world runs. The founder managed to soar past the competition at an early stage. But, they know all too well that remaining complacent with their achievements thus far would lead to their downfall. Thus, Google remains committed to serving the needs of its users in the present while keeping an eye on the future. How could Google success? Good idea and passion both play important parts. The great thing about Google is that they love innovation and try very hard to be innovative, but that's where it stops. Most of their innovations aren't popular and they don't market them well enough to get the popularity a lot of them deserve. When it’s going to do this, Google’s times is coming.

Being competitive

When I finish the Google story and get to know the process and the experience of the foundation. It reminds me to think of Facebook. It is widely believed that Facebook presents a significant competitive threat to Google. While Facebook has proven to become the domination social networking site on the internet by beating out MySpace. People will leave once you give them a good reason to and sometimes it doesn't happen all at once, but the key thing is to start showing people why they need to leave. This is what Google needs to do with Wave. Starting showing that Google Wave is simple, easy to use, and socially interactive. So Google could speak loudly that Facebook is not competitive anymore.

What will Google do next?

Websites could have a lot to do, but even before websites that did it you could always use a paper reverse directory or call information. Once you had the name you looked them up in the address book to get an address, privacy is becoming a thing of the past. We are required to give out so much information, just to live, that data mining can now yield a surprising - and to some, an alarming - amount of personal information that can narrow down a search to a single person. There is no stopping the future. The real question is how the balance will go between the positive versus the negative uses of technology. People from all walks of life have now access to more knowledge than ever dreamt of by kings and fascist governments. There are, for instance, free

encyclopedias, operating systems and other software that enable people to use them and study them -- this site is one of them. There are more sources of news than ever before -- anything that happens around the world can be found out in mere minutes -- and it is more likely that those who care can come up with a rather unbiased view from all these sources. In my opinion, the most important question is if people will learn to benefit more from the good sides of having so much information available, and to select wisely and truthfully from all that data, than end up misusing or misinterpreting it -- no matter how relative some of these terms often are. There will always be abusers, in any way, in any time, of any system. In the end, it all comes down to whether or not you have faith in humanity. The internet, Google and search engines are about as relevant to 'good' and 'evil' as the first time someone melted metal and made a purposeful object out of it.

I believe that all of these are important factors in developing any great technology company. Powerful customer-focused technology with an eye towards making money -- that's pretty much the formula. Even brand, which can be prohibitively expensive to develop ahead of customer traction, will likely follow product leadership. Google's success isn't rocket science; it's just good old fashion company building. Good for them for the discipline. It's an excellent model to follow. So I think the book is well worth reading and many things can be learned from it about driving a company towards a vision with a unshakable attitude and mindset about HOW that can be done. If you’re a diehard Google fan and read every story published about them, you probably won’t learn that much, but if you’re interested and expect to learn great lessons about business, marketing and entrepreneurship, then the Google Story is well worth it!
