Care for the Left-behind Children Name: 陈翔 ID NO.:20104279 Class:英语四班 My dream is give the left-behind children a warm home, and make up their absent love in their childhood. Did you have a happy and memorable childhood? Did your parents companied with you during your childhood? Well, I was born in 1990, as an illegal and forbidden girl, because the family-planing policy was very strict and I already had one elder and brother at that time. In order to escape from the punishment and fine, my parents decided to leave me with my grandparents. I didn't come back to my family until I was 8 years old. Even though I had a very happy childhood with my grandparents,and I tried my best to persuade myself to understand my parents' decision, the absence of my parent's love in my childhood is still my hidden ache. And sometimes, I even doubt whether I have some psychological problems . However, by contrast with the five children strangled and died in the garbage can, I'm so lucky. I believe most of us haven’t forgotten this news, on November 16, 2012, five children’s bodies were found in a garbage can in Guizhou province, dying of carbonic oxide. Because they are so cold that they made a fire in the cold garbage can. Five young lives, aged from nine to thirteen, passed away before they enjoy the life. At this age, they should have played games with their friends and studied in the school. At this age, they should have walked hand in hand with their parents and played in the park. At this age, they should have watched cartoons, stretching themselves on the sofa or had delicious meals with their family members in the warm home. However, these innocent pure five kids died, died in the frozen winter, in this harmonious society. Their death remembered me of the death of the little match girl. I don’t know when they wandered about the street, have they ever complained their parents, have they hated the society? I don’t know when they losing consciousness gradually, have they dreamed the similar dream like the little match girl? I only wish there is no cold in the heaven! Who should be responsible for this tragedy? Let’s walk out from the agony of losing these five kids. Time to rethink profoundly! These five children are five of china’s fifty eight million left-behind children, whose father or mother or both take jobs in cities to earn money to support the family, leaving their children behind and be taken care of by their grandparents or other relatives, most of whom are aged , feeble and didn’t received enough education. According to the survey, seventy percent of the left-behind children’s parents get back home no more than three times one year. Some even haven’t go back home for several years. One survey showed the separation from their parents will inevitably affect the left-behind children’s development in negative ways. For example, the left-behind children are living in a poor living condition, lacking of education, insecurity and difficulty in communication with others. Among all the problems, the psychological problem is most pressing, invisible but long-lasting. I want to ask who should make up the absent love for the fifty eight million left-behind children?! First of all, their parents didn’t take on their responsibility to take care of their children. So all the people are beginning to criticize them, but when you see them and their shabby houses, you will know that they have no ability to bring up these children, they even have no ability to support themselves. As to the parents, I want to say, be responsible! Before you have the ability to support a family and provide a well-off life to your children, you’d better do not bring the baby to this world. They are innocent, please don’t bring them to this world at random, they are innocent, please love them ,care them ,if you already had them. What’s more, what kids need most is the love and care from parents, not only the material and money. As to the government, I wish our government will not only declare“serve the people heart and soul” orally, but carry out the policy into practice seriously. In fact, the most important thing isn't catchword, but action! Last but not least, the society should pay more attention to the disadvantaged groups and help them to overcome the difficulties. All in all, I hope through the efforts of the common People and the government, the left-behind children’s condition will be improved. I wish, next time when the left-behind children feel cold, the first thing occurred in their mind will be the cozy home, or the warm embrace, rather than the cold garbage can!
