College study--a simulated semi-society Chinese education system has been undergoing a series of revolution since two years ago. In our previous education system, in spite of the high grades, students’ capacity to settle practical problems and their creativity are not as good as western students. However, college and university education is helpful to improve the status quo, that is, to develop both the knowledge and skills students need in their future career and social life. First of all, unlike the primary and middle school, supply an environment which is similar to society life. For instance, the students union looks like a mini-model of all kinds of government departments and various topic associations share some similarities with social organizations. Except for the organizations in college, amounts of activities and parties actually help stimulate students’ potential in management and leadership which in end will contribute to their future careers. I do not agree with someone’s view that students should leave school as soon as possible to develop their career through work experience. Although working experience and skills are of importance, accumulating them is a matter of time and practice. Study is a matter of both intelligence and psychological state. I mean after work, bothered by working and life trifles, our learning passion and psychological state do not perform as good as they do before our career. Even if one squeeze out some time to learn and to study, the outcome of learning may not be that efficient as before. In a word, I advocate that we should cherish the moment in college and fully make use of our intelligence and the sources to develop ourselves both in mentality and practical skills.
