　　As we all know, fire is one of the most terrible killers in our modern society.We know that fire is mainly caused by smokers, followed by defective insulations and children playing with matches. In 2002 ,thousands of fire happened all over the country, of which 50 percent was caused by smokers who left cigarette-ends everywhere. Those who smoke should make sure that the cigarettes are stubbed out before being thrown away. Also, smoking should not be allowed in public places. 30 percent of fire was caused by defective insulation. Workers should know the importance of good insulation for people‘s lives. At homes we must pay special attention to electric wires and make sure that they are safe. 20 percent of fire are caused by children playing with matches. We should warn children of the danger of playing with matches.

　　No matter what type of the reason it was, there was one thing in common:carelessness. So if everyone in the country is careful enough, more fire could be avoided.

　　今天下午我校举行消防演习。

　　Our school will hold a fire drill this afternoon.

　　老师说，如果发生火灾的话，我们可以逃到卫生间里，用水泼在墙上，把墙打湿，用湿布塞住门缝，怕毒烟进来;假如我想冲出火场的话，要把棉被打湿披在身上，然后再冲出来。

　　The teacher said that if there is a fire, we can escape to the bathroom, sprinkle water on the wall, wet the wall, and plug the door with a wet cloth to prevent poisonous smoke from entering; if I want to rush out of the fire, I need to wet the quilt on my body, and then rush out.

　　在第一次演习的时候，楼梯上什么气味都没有，第二次演习的时候，楼梯上有许多难闻的气味，我们拿出准备的小毛巾，叠成四层，护住口鼻部位，然后按次序跑下楼梯，到达安全地方。

　　In the first drill, there was no smell on the stairs. In the second drill, there were many bad smells on the stairs. We took out the prepared small towels and folded them into four layers to protect the mouth and nose. Then we ran down the stairs in order to reach a safe place.

　　通过这次消防演习，我可以懂得如何逃离火灾现场，保护自己，也牢记了火警电话“119”。

　　Through this fire drill, I can know how to escape from the fire scene and protect myself. I also remember the fire call "119".

　　By teaching your children fire safety you can make sure they know what to do when a house fire occurs. Making sure that your children know exactly what is required of them cuts down on the chaos of the emergency situation and helps keep your family safe and secure.

　　All children should know about important fire safety procedures such as the need to stay low to the ground in a smoky room and the need to stop, drop, and roll if their clothes should catch fire. Staying low to the ground keeps you from inhaling smoke, as smoke always rises towards the ceiling. Smoke inhalation can lead to unconsciousness, and is a big component of deaths caused by house fires.

　　Tell your family members that they can put a damp rag or a piece of clothing over their faces and breathe in through it in order to cut down on the effects of smoke inhalation even more. However, you generally shouldn't waste time finding a damp rag in an emergency; it's also dangerous to use a faucet to wet a damp rag depending on the severity of the fire, as if the water pipes in your home are exposed to high temperatures the water traveling through them may be converted to steam which will blast out of the faucet and cause burns.

　　Make sure your children know how to correctly stop, drop, and roll and feel confident in the fact that it works. It smothers the fire and deprives it of oxygen, which puts out the flames.

　　The usual response to clothing catching on fire is to run around and flail about wildly, which only exposes the fire to more oxygen and feeds the flames. Your children should also know to touch door handles before opening the door to see if they are hot. If they are, it means that there's a fire in the next room, and they should leave the door closed and find another route out of the house.

　　Make sure your children understand that they should never play with lighters or matches. Fires started by playing with these things are the leading cause of fire-related injuries in children under five years old.

　　Many children are fascinated by lighters and matches and want to experiment with lighting things on fire to see what happens. Hide lighters and matches in your home and keep them out of the reach of your children in order to cut down on the temptation. Make sure all flammable liquids such as gasoline and lighter fluid are securely stored out of the reach of your kids.

　　Do regular fire drills to practice your evacuation plan so that your family knows what to do in an emergency. Make sure everyone knows all the possible exit points of the house that they can use; a fire in your home will be a chaotic situation, and it's best to make sure all members of your family know your evacuation plan well enough so that it is second nature and they don't have to waste time thinking if a fire starts. Quick, determined response to a fire will save your family members lives.
