（1）Before leaving the house, she closed the windows.

（2）She is close to success.

两句话里都有close，但是词性不同，第一句话里的是动词，因为有形式上的变化（-ed）；而第二句话里的close 跟在is 的后面，而且形式上没有变化，因此判断为形容词。当寻找他们的同义词时，应针对不同的词性加以判断。这一点对于大家来说非常重要！

第二种：分不清划线单词是原形，现在分词或过去式；如：

（1）Her sister urged her to apply for the job.

A. advised B. caused C. forced D. promised

如果去字典里查urged,当然是查不到的。

（2）Tickets are limited and will be allocated to those who apply first.

A. posted B. Sent C. handed D. Given

在这儿，given是动词give的过去分词

　1．I can't put up with my neighbor's noise any longer. It's driving me mad．

本题选择A tolerate

[解析]我不能忍受邻居的噪音，那快让我疯了。put up with：忍受；和A．tolerate意思相近，例如：The school cannot tolerate cheating on exams．学校无法容忍考试作弊现象。 generate产生。C．reduce：减少，缩小；例如：They have to reduce expenses this year．他们今年必须削减开支。D．measure：测量，估计；例如：We cannot measure a man by his failures．我们不能以失败来衡量一个人。

例如 Jane said that she couldn’t tolerate the long hours.

A. spend B. take C. last D. stand 本题选择D （忍受）

We have to put up with her behavior. 本题选择A （忍受）
