Dazzled(耀眼)by the attractions of fame, more than one in 10 young Britons would quit school to become tomorrow's tabloid(小报)star, a survey showed Friday.
In a country obsessed(迷住)by celebrities, a growing number of children are more interested in becoming rich and famous than getting a good education, according to research from the Learning and Skills Council (LSC).
Around nine percent thought fame was a great way to earn money without skills or qualifications(资格).
"Young people realize that you don't need skills for being famous and believe it is easy, which it is not," Max Clifford, Britain's best known publicist(评论家), told Reuters.
Britain's tabloids are littered(丢弃,垃圾)with "revelations(绯闻,新发现)" about C-list celebrities and the country's most famous couple, David and Victoria Beckham, have made millions of pounds from gracing(增光、增色)the front pages.
But the LSC pointed out that the chances of being picked for a Big Brother -style TV show and being popular afterwards were around one in 30 million, longer odds(几率)than winning the lottery.
Clifford, who has acted as agent for many fleeting(短暂的)celebrities, agreed. "I would say to star-wannabes(赶超崇拜者): See it as the lottery, try it but don't count on it, don't rely on it. "Get yourself educated, get yourself a job, get yourself a situation."

Valentyn Shtefano's pastries were known for attracting stares and giggles as well as lip-smacking murmurs. But even his fiancee was surprised when Shtefano told her he was making her wedding dress — out of flour, eggs, sugar and caramel. The dress — made of 1,500 cream puffs and weighing 20 pounds — took the 28-year-old baker two months to make, and by the end of the wedding reception, bride Viktoriya said she didn't want to take it off.
Shtefano is a rising star in the field of baking as visual art, earning him a following in Uzhhorod, Ukraine. His creations have generated a buzz in a place where cake is often layers of heavy cream, wafers and nuts or poppy seeds — more something to eat than to look at.Shtefano is eager to introduce new sweets to this city of 125,000.Some of Shtefano's cakes are strictly for mature audiences, like a pair of breasts. But he also created an elaborate Easter cake that drew hundreds to a cathedral. It was a black and gold globe hatching from an Easter egg, with pieces of eggshell on top of the globe and falling off to the side. It was too pretty to eat.His biggest challenge was the wedding dress cake. At first, he sewed empty cream puffs together, but the dress collapsed. Then, he carefully attached the puffs to a wedding dress frame, and Viktoriya spent a couple hours each night before the wedding modeling the dress as Shtefano added more puffs.
Her crown, bouquet and necklace were made from caramelized sugar.

4.Where are some herbs used at Christmas? In Christmas food, ... and ...
Christmas has many traditions, such as singing songs, cooking foods, giving gifts and so on. Some special trees and plants also are part of the Christmas tradition. One of the most popular is the evergreen tree. It is usually a pine or a fir. It remains green during the cold, dark months of winter in the northern part of the world. Many people buy an evergreen tree for Christmas. They put it in their house and hang small lights and colorful objects on its branches. Some people buy living trees and plant them after the Christmas holiday. Others cut down a tree or buy a cut tree. Other popular plants at Christmas are the poinsettias. These plants are valued for their colorful bracts, which look like leaves. Most poinsettias are red. But they also can be white or pink. Poinsettias are native to Mexico. They are named after America’s first ambassador to Mexico, Joel Poinsett. He liked the plant and sent some back to the United States. Many people believe that poinsettias are poisonous. But researchers say this is not true. They say the milky liquid in the plant’s stem can cause a person’s skin to become red. If children or animals eat the leaves they may become sick, but they will not die. There are several herbs used in Christmas foods, drinks and decorations. One is sage. Its leaves are cooked with turkey. And sweet-smelling rosemary plants are hung on doors or cut to look like little Christmas tree.
