Comments on Hamlet Within a short period of time, the prince of Denmark, Hamlet, suffered pretty much — the sudden and mysterious death of his father, his uncle marrying his mother and becoming the present king of Denmark. Although he wasn’t prepared to accept all the misfortune readily, it did happen in the blink of an eye. All these made Hamlet such a melancholy prince. The ghost of the dead king told Hamlet that his uncle,Claudius murdered him to come to the throne and Claudius also had an unlawful relationship with Hamlet’s mother. At first, Hamlet didn’t totally believe what the ghost had said, but then he had a chance to discover for himself signs of his uncle’s guilt. His plan worked and he was convinced by Claudius’ guilty actions that the ghost was right. Hamlet had no reason to delay in taking revenge for his dead father. However, he didn’t seem very resolute. In other words, he did make a decision but he didn’t carry out actions immediately. At this crucial moment, he was still wrestling with the question of life and death: to be or not to be. Hamlet even attempted suicide as a means of escape to forget the reality and search for comfort from a future life. Cowardice and undecidedness are two main characteristics of Hamlet. He could have stabbed his uncle to death when he came upon the king in an attitude of prayer. Hamlet didn’t make use of this golden chance because he had a firm belief that the king was at his devotions and confessing to God of his wrong doings. In this sense, Hamlet was definitely a kind-hearted person. His contradictory dispositions were a large part of reason which caused the whole tragedy. 本文来源:https://www.wddqw.com/doc/182bec042f60ddccda38a0a7.html
