绿野仙踪英文版好词好句摘抄第一章

Chapter 1

Once upon a time there were two children, a brother and

sister called Tom and Ellen, who were sent by their father to spend the summer with their aunt in a wooded area far away from the bustle of the city. It was a wonderful place, filled with wild flowers, trees and streams and moss-covered rocks. The children would spend their days wandering through the woods and meadows and discovering creatures such as

butterflies, birds, rabbits and squirrels. They also loved to watch the sun go down in the evening and admire the beautiful sunset.

One day, when they were out walking in the woods, they came across a cottage with a thatched roof and a sign above the door which read, "Here lives Mr Tod the Fox". Intrigued by this they decided to knock on the door and ask if they could come in.

To their delight, they were greeted by an old man with a kindly face and sparkling eyes, who said he was Mr. Tod and welcomed them into his home. He offered them some

refreshments and asked them what they were doing in his woods. Tom and Ellen eagerly explained that they were exploring and looking for adventure. Mr. Tod smiled and said that he could give them just what they wanted. He then led them up a winding path which snaked up the side of the hill. At the top was a clearing where he showed them an enchanted pond. The waters swirled and shimmered with mysterious colors and strange creatures floated on the

surface. Then suddenly they heard music, like they had never heard before.

Mr. Tod told them it was the 'Musicians of Greenwillow', and beckoned them to come closer. As the children watched, elves, fairies and sprites emerged from the pond, dancing and playing music. Tom and Ellen were entranced and knew that they were having a magical experience.

When it was time to leave, Mr. Tod waved goodbye and gave each of the children a silver key. He told them it was the key to the mysteries of Greenwillow, and that from then on, they were able to come back to the enchanted pond whenever they wished.

And so it became Tom and Ellen's special place, where they could share secrets and make wonderful memories, learning about the wonders of nature and of life.
