the Memories of Peking:South Side Stories Lin Haiyin(1918-2001),the author of the Memories of Peking:South Side Stories,was born in Japanese.She retured Taiwan with her parents in 1921.Later on,all her family moved to Beijing and setled here in 1923.Ti was until 1948 her husband,child and her returned hometown. She studied in Biejing from a child.After she graduated,she went to the World Journal as a reporter.Then she worked as editor and librarian.These professions offered widely opportunity to make her in-depth knowledge of the socia outlook of the old Beijing.It was also to supply much background material for later’s fiction creation.She first became famous for creating the Memories of Peking:South Side Stories based on this life. The Memories of Peking:South Side Stories was well-known work of her. This is a book which tells us the life of the general family lived in Beijing quadrangle in the end of the 1920s.It includs five short stories.They are Hui An hall,We see the sea to,LanYi aunt,Lv Da Gun son and Dad’s flowers fall off. Lin Yingzi is the main person of this novel,six little girl lived in south of the Beijing’s lane.Xiou Zhen was the madwoman who always stands in lane to find her daughter.She is the first friend that Yingzi to met. Xiou Zhen fall in love with a university student ever.But the university student was captured by police.Then Xiou Zhen gave birth to Xiao Guizi. Xiao Guizi was throw and unknown life and death. Yingzi was very sympathy Xiou Zhen.When Yingzi known her little partner’s life experience like Xiao Guizi and found her birthmark in poll.She took Xiao Guizi to find Xiou Zhen.After Xiou Zhen was recognised with her daugher.She took her to find Xiao Guizi’s father.But finally they died distressingly under the railway. Later Yingzi’s family move to the new curtain lane.She met a young man with thicklips at nearly the bleak garden.He had to steal for his brother’s fee. Yingzi though he is kind-hearted,but she can’t disinguish if he is good person. Yingzi found a bronze budden at the bleak garden,then police department’s secret agent found this.They captured this young man.This made Yingzi very regret. When Yingzi was nine.Her wet nurse’s husband came to her home. Yingzi known wet nurse’s son was drown two years ago and her daugher was sold to another person.The wet nurse was very sorrow.But Yingzi didn’t know why wet nurse left her childen alone and took care of her family. Finally, Yingzi’s father died in pneumonia when Yingzi guraguated. The wet nurse retured his hometwon. Yingzi took carriage with her family.She took many interrogative to say good-bye to her childhood.Because she have grown. The Memories of Peking:South Side Stories is a memorable book I have read.It likes a road,opened my heart;It likes sun’s radiance,made me find direction.The word of old.We can feel it deeply meaning.Old house’s tile,the willow trees,the old points of the door.All these is very beatiful and tranquility. Childhood,there are many stories like dream.Read the Memories of Peking:South Side Stories,as if experence by myself.The camels under the sun,Hui An hall’s madwoman,thicklips young thief, Xiao Guizi near to the well,father’s friend De Xian uncle and amah.Not the person but things all made deeply emontion with Yingzi.Left depply imperssion in her memory.But all those disappear with her childhood.Childhood’s stories,was broken.So childhood is happy and important by the minute. When I closed this book.There a light fragrance in the room.I’m keenly aware of Yingzi’s childhood. the Memories of Peking:South Side like bitter in the sweet.It takes us back to the past recall childhood The flowers will open again after fading.A soog can be forever after finishing.But our childhood never to reture.
