It’s a coincidence that I write a review of the book A Christmas Memory on the very day of Christmas. I’m on a bus heading to Zhuhai. Exhausted as I am, I think it necessary to recall some Christmas memories of mine.

I’m not a holiday-crazy person; thus, I respond indifferently to holidays. Last night when I came back from work, I hesitated for a moment whether to buy apples for the Christmas Eve, but I gave up the thought at last. Then my boyfriend got upset about it, commenting that I didn’t have “holiday spirit”, and I’m not gonna deny it. Of all the Christmas events, I can only remember vividly the Christmas party held in my senior high school, at which I sang a song of my favorite singer, Xu Song. I can still sense the aukward feeling of singing incorrectly in front of all the classmates and teachers. Another Christmas party, also held in senior high, was strongly proposed by our first foreign teacher, Emma. It was one with green Christmas trees and colorful decorations and wonderful costumes and delicious snacks... It was the chorus performance that stood out in my memory, because my throat felt so itchy that I started coughing violently in the process of the song.

It’s interesting that we remember some moments for some silly reasons. These moments, in my opinion, make our life meaningful.

It seems this book would be my last one of 2019. I still didn’t accomplish my goal of reading 50 books a year. But it doesn’t matter, I still have many years to go. And merry Christmas to you, my friend.
