四年级下册英语绿本How frogs grow

Frogs grow quickly. After they hatch from eggs, baby frogs, called tadpoles, swim around and eat. As they grow, they look less like fish and more like frogs. They develop hind legs and their tails shrink. Then they grow front legs and their tails eventually disappear.

At this point they look just like small adult frogs. But they still need to get bigger and stronger. They feed on insects, small spiders, and other small creatures. As they eat, they get bigger. After about ten to twelve weeks, they are full grown, adult frogs.

Frogs often can live in many different kinds of places. Some like to live near wetlands near rivers and lakes. Others like to live in forests and grasslands. They like warm, damp places, but some kinds of frogs can even live in deserts.

Frogs are important creatures in the world of nature. They eat insects so there are fewer bugs for us to deal with. They also provide food for other animals like snakes, owls and raccoons.
