During an armistice of the Anglo-American War of 1812-1814, an American unwittingly crossed the British lines while hunting and brought down a crow. He was approached by an unarmed British officer, who complimented him on his marksmanship and asked to see his gun. No sooner had the hunter handed it over than the officer turned it on him and forced him to take a bite out of the crow. When the officer returned the gun, the American turned the tables and forced him to eat the remainder of the crow.

On a business trip to India, a colleague of mine arrived at the airport in Dilhi. He took a taxi to his hotel, where he was greeted by his hospitable Indian host. The cab driver requested the equivalent of eight dollars U. S. for the fare, which seemed reasonable, so my friend handed him the money.
But the host grabbed the bills and initiated a verbal assault upon the cabby, calling him a worthless parasite and a disgrace to their country for trying to overcharge visitors. The host threw half the amount at the driver and told him never to return.
As the taxi sped off, the host gave the remaining bills to my colleague and asked him how his trip had been. "Fine," the business- man replied, "until you chased the cab away with my luggage in the trunk."

Alexander the Great acquired his warhorse Bucephalus when he was in his teens. The story is that a horse dealer brought the horse to Alexander's father, King Philip of Macedonia. The horse was spirited but totally unmanageable. However, Alexander argued that he could tame him.
He took hold of the bridle, and turned the horse directly towards the sun, having observed that he was disturbed at the motion of his own shadow. He stroked the horse gently when he began to grow fiery. Then, with one nimble leap, he securely mounted him. Presently, when he found the horse free from all rebelliousness, he let him go at full speed without striking or spurring him.
King Philip kissed his son as he came down from the horse, saying, "O my son, look thee out a kingdom worthy of thyself, for Macedonia is too little for thee."

One day the king of animals asked a cat to see how his palace was built. After a few hours, the little cat came back and said to the tiger, “Oh, your palace is very large, tall and beautiful. ”Several days later the tiger asked a pig to see it. He said, “Go and see how my palace is built. ”But when the pig came back, he said to the tiger, “My dear king, I thought your palace is beautiful, but it suits yourself only. ”
The tiger was very surprised when he heard it. “Why are the cat’s and the pig’s answers not the same? ”he said to himself. He then asked a camel to go to have a look. Before long the camel ran back out of breath and said to the tiger, “Oh, your palace is too small for you to live in, my king. ”
The king became very angry when he heard what the camel said. He said to the animals angrily, “Maybe somebody of you tell lies. Three people have three ideas. I want to kill you. ”Just at the moment, a fox came out to stop the tiger from doing that. He asked the tiger himself to go to see it before killing them.
After the tiger saw the palace himself, he thought that their answers were all right. He said to the animals, “To see with one’s own eyes is more important than only to hear others. ”
