The Old Man and The Sea And my College Life Recently, I read a book called The Old Man and The sea, which was written by an American writer named Ernest Hemingway，who was an American author and journalist. The book has been translated into tens of language, and the writer was so proud of his book. In this story, an old man called Santiago who fished alone in a skiff in the Gulf Stream had gone eighty-four days without taking a fish. In the first forty days, a boy had been with him. But after forty days without a fish,the boy had gone at his parent’s order in another boat. But to be honest, the boy loved the old man and did not want to leave him. The boy said to the old man:’’Good luck ,old man!”Then the old man fitted the rope lashings of the oars onto the thole pins and, leaning forward against the thrust of the blades in the water, he began to row out of the harbour in the dark. The old man knew he was going far out and he left the smell of the land behind and rowed out into the clean early morning smell of the ocea.During the voyage, to our great surprise, the old man met a extremly big marlin fish which he never met before. Nevertheless, when he caught the fish, the old man was attacked by sharks in succession. The old man chose to fighting with the shark rather than compromise. Finally, the shark ate overall majority of the big marlin fish. The old man brought the broken fish back to shore, The fish had only the head and the tail and the spine.Even so, all the fisherman were proud of him. So that's the end of the story. From the story，what can we learn from it?As far as I’m concerned, I associate it with my college life.The harpoon killed the shark, the shark sank to the bottom of the sea, and the harpoon was carried away. The old man strapped the knife to the oar without the harpoon. When a shark striked again, the old man's heart was not fear, but a battle, a deadly fight, even if the knife was broken, the paddle was broken, even if only a wooden stick in his hand, even if the old man's hand was bloody, but as long as the heart wanted to fight, nothing can stop the man. However, there are some people in our lives who can't stand the pressure of life, choose to give up, and some of them choose to live with a light life. It is so important for we college students to have a strong heart when encountering difficulties and setbacks.There is not any reason to choose to give up. Whatever you do, stick to it. Compared with the old man, our difficulties are nothing to speak of.If you want to fight, nothing can stop you. Rember: A person can be destroyed but not defeated. When the old man caught the big marlin, he was alone at sea with the fish. The old man was talking to himself, talking to his own hand, talking to the fish, talking to the birds. Sometimes he would show sympathy to the great marlin in the water. Sometimes he regarded the great as his own brother. The old man was alone in the vast sea.He didn't seem to think of it as a hunting, but rather an exchange with nature. In solitude, the old man revere nature, love nature, and live in harmony with solitude. Loneliness is a difficult topic to avoid in college.Maybe at ten o 'clock in the night, you just walk out of the library, the big campus, empty, you walk alone. The cold wind swish, the walk is hurried, you will inevitably have some desolate feeling. Alone, but there is no harm in that. Solitude is to be with your heart, feel the power of life, and feel the power of nature.Therefore, when you walk alone, please cherish this opportunity. Be well with your heart and feel the beauty of life. The story of the young boy and the old man's friendship is really a beautiful scenery line.The old man has a friend like a little boy, and he is lucky;the little boy has a friend like an old man, and he is happy.This is friendship.They are real friends. The friendship between them is the most sincere friendship without any profit factor. There is a proverb that goes like this :”A friend in need is a friend indeed.” A true friend is the one who reaches for your hand when you are in trouble. A true friend is a word of comfort when you are upset. A true friend is one when you are a success : "don't be proud."In today's society, who can have a few friends who share a common life?The people who live in today's society are sad and lonely, and this loneliness makes them high-hat and selfish, forgetting the best things in human nature. There were some great philosophers who lamented the weight of friendship in life, but now it is hard to believe in friendship.Take the university campus for example, we know a few hundred people or thousands of people, but how many the true bosom friend can you have?A few！When it comes to a variety of interests and competition, the good brothers turn against each other and secretly intrigue.I admire the friendship between the old man and the boy. I hope that when we are college students, we are able to show our hearts to each other, be sincere and selfless, and have less suspicion.
