综述型英语读书报告

Introduction: Themes:

One of the central themes of "To Kill a Mockingbird" is racial injustice. The story is set in the 1930s in a small Alabama town and revolves around the trial of a black man, Tom Robinson, who is falsely accused of raping a white woman. Through this trial, Harper Lee eposes the deep-rooted racism and prejudice prevalent in society.

Character Development: Literary Devices:

Harper Lee masterfully employs various literary devices to enhance the impact of the novel. One such device is symbolism. The mockingbird, a recurring motif, represents innocence and purity. Atticus advises his children to never harm a mockingbird as it only brings joy with its song. This symbolism is later reflected in the characters of Tom Robinson and Boo Radley, who are unjustly targeted by society.
