A Comparative Study of Communicative Language Teaching and Task-based

Language Teaching

The English course is one of the main courses for the English learners in middle school, so how to teach this course better has got more and more considerable attention. Many teachers have done a lot of work, exploring better teaching methods in order to let students to understand such materials better. There are two main teaching methods in English class teaching in middle school. They are communicative language teaching and task-based language teaching. This paper makes an attempt to make a comparative study of communicative language teaching and task-based language teaching, to explore a suitable teaching method of Middle English class and to improve teaching efficiency. Thus to promote students’ English proficiency.

This paper makes an attempt to compare communicative language teaching and task-based language teaching, the main teaching methods in English teaching in middle school, to explore a suitable teaching method of English class and to improve teaching efficiency. Thus to promote students’ English proficiency. In the paper, the basic information of communicative language teaching and task-based language teaching is firstly introduced, and then to compare the two different teaching methods, analyze their principles and definitions and summarize the similarities and differences between the two teaching methods. At the end of this paper, some suggestions for the practice of the two different teaching methods are provided. In the study, it is important to give definitions of the two different teaching methods, and then there is a detailed comparison between communicative language teaching and task-based language teaching, which can help us to understand them a deeply. Therefore, we can use them in a more suitable situation in our English teaching in the future.
