1.fail v. 无视,忘记
without fail 无误;必定;一向如此(surely, definitely, without exception)
例句:Since Federal Express started business in 1971, it has flown millions of air kilometers without fail.
联邦捷运公司自从1971年开业以来,已经准确无误地飞行了数百万公里。

2.lucky adj.幸运的,吉祥的
a lucky dog 幸运儿(对照underdog“落水狗,失败者”记忆)
例句:He scored high in TOEFL without much preparation. He is really a lucky dog.
他没怎么准备托福就考了高分,他可真是个幸运儿。

3.place n. 地方,区域
place a/the call 打电话(make a telephone call; to ring sb.up)
例句:Please find out the time difference for me so that I'll know when to place the call.
请替我查一下时差,这样我就能知道何时打电话。

4.sign n. 指示牌,标记 v. 签字,签名
sign a lease 签租约(sign a contract on renting sth.)
例句:You have to sign a one-year lease with us and pay the security deposit and cleaning fee.
你得和我们签一个一年的租约,并且要付押金和清洁费。
sign up for 选(课);登记报名,参加(elect subjects; to register to take part in sth.)
例句:Those who signed up for this program must be prepared to write a full-length research report at the end of the semester.

as a sign of...为了表示...(to indicate one's...)
例句:Sam had worked 30 years for the same company and now he had to retire. As a sign of gratitude, the company held a dinner in his honor.

5.ticket n. 交通违规罚款单
ticket agent 票务代理
例句:I asked the ticket agant to let me know what time my plane would arrive in Chicago.

例句:Some people feel tired of waiting in traffic jams .
