GARY: How was the exam, Richard?
RICHARD: Not too bad. I think I passed inEnglish and Mathematics.The questions were very easy.How about you, Gary?
GARY: The English and Maths papers weren't easy enough for me. I hope I haven't failed.
RICHARD: I think I failed the French paper.I could answer sixteen of the questions. They were very easy. But I couldn't answer the rest. They were too difficult for me.
GARY: French test are awful, aren't they?
RICHARD: I hate them. I'm sure I've got a low mark.
GARY: Oh, cheer up! perhaps we didn't to do badly.The guy next to me wrote his name at the top of the paper.
RICHARD: Yes?
GARY: Then he sat there and looked at it for three hours! He didn't write a word!
【课文翻译】
加 里：考试考得怎样，理查德?
理查德：不算太坏，我想我的英语和数学及格了。题目很容易。加里，你怎么样?

【知识点讲解】
1. 今天我们讲讲考试的相关词汇：
参加考试 take/have an exam; 参加具体科目的考试，如英语考试，take an English (科目名称)exam
考试及格 pass the exam, 具体的科目通过了，我们可以说 pass in English(科目)exam。
考试不及格 fail the exam 具体的科目不及格，我们可以说 fail the English (科目) exam。
考试非常好 do well in the exam; 考试非常糟糕，do badly in the exam。well 和badly都是副词 adv.哦。
试卷，我们用paper这个词，这个时候，paper是可数名词了。比如英语和数学卷子 English and Maths papers.
2.考完试后的讨论：
你考得怎样? What about/How about you (in the exam)?
对我来说不难 It's easy enough for me. (实用口语 It's a piece of cake. 小菜一碟。)
对我来说很难 It's too difficult/hard for me.

THE BOSS：That's right. You've typed it with only one 'L'. This letter's full of mistakes. I want you to type it again.
SANDRA: Yes, I'll do that. I'm sorry about that.

【知识点讲解】
1. 今天我们初步介绍动词不定式：正如课本中出现的'Do you want to speak to her?','Tell her to come at once'.中 want to do/tell sb to do，动词后边都有动词不定式的结构，即(to+V). want to do表示想做……，有此结构的词，还有plan, decide, 而tell sb to do，表示告诉某人做……，此类结构的词，比如order, require,request等。动词不定式的搭配不胜枚举，关键的还是大家对这种结构有一个初步的了解，在今后的学习中多接触，多积累。
2 课文的题目，Full of mistakes, 错误百出。题目中的full of 是一个结构，通常的使用是be full of+ n,表示装满/充满了……，比如说瓶子里满是水。The bottle is full of water. “想想瓶子里装满了牛奶。”应该怎么说呢?
3 我们再来讲讲mistake这个单词，mistake，n 错误，比如犯错误，make mistakes/make a mistake.
4 最后，我们来讲讲and这个连词。连词，顾名思义就是把事物连在一起的词。比如说，你和我，就是you and me. 他打开门进来了，He opened the door and walked in (and 在这里就是连起两个动作)。同时，and 还可以连接两个句子，有承上启下的作用，如课文中的 And here's a little present for you. 有并列，递进的关系。

Lady: I like the colour very much. It's a lovely dress, but it's too small for me.
Assistant: What about this one? It's a lovely dress. It's very smart. Short skirts are in fashion now. Would you like to try it?
Lady: All right.
Lady: I'm afraid this green dress is too small for me as well. It's smaller than the blue one.
Lady: I don't like the colour either. It doesn't suit me at all. I think the blue dress is prettier.
Lady: Could you show me another blue dress? I want a dress like that one, but it must be my size.
Assistant: I'm afraid I haven't got a larger dress. This is the largest dress in the shop.

【知识点讲解】
一. 今天我们讲讲比较级：
英语中，将两个主体进行比较，如“A比B更……”的表达方式，我们称之为比较级。(强调两者之间的比较时，会出现“than”这个标志词，但如果对比的主体很明确时，可以把“than”省掉。)
当比较的主体不止两个时，如“A是最……”的表达方式时，我们使用级。组成句子的方式是将形容词或副词变化成比较级，级的形态。今天我们重点讨论形容词的比较级与级。
比较级，级的变化的一般规则：
1.大部分情况下，比较级在后面加-er，级在后面加-est;如：small→smaller→smallest, short→shorter→shortest, clever→cleverer→cleverest, narrow→narrower→narrowest
2.以不发音e结尾的单音节词，比较级在原级后加-r，级在原级后加-st;如：large→larger→largest, nice→nicer→nicest
3.在重读闭音节(即：辅音+元音+辅音)中，先双写末尾的辅音字母，比较级加-er，级加-est;如：big→bigger→biggest, hot→hotter→hottest
4.以“辅音字母+y”结尾的双音节词， 把y改为i，比较级加-er，级加-est; 如：easy→easier→easiest, heavy→heavier→heaviest
5.其他双音节词和多音节词(一个元音为一个音节)，比较级在前面加more，级在前面加most;如：beautiful→more beautiful→most beautiful different→more different→most different tired→more tired→most tired (很重要，也很特殊)
二. 委婉语的用法。
委婉，有礼貌地询问对方，我们可以使用这样的句型：Would you +V? 或者是Could you+V? 意思是，你想……吗?或者你要……吗?如：Would you like a cup of coffee?你要来杯咖啡吗?
三. 挑选衣服必备语:
款式：It is lovely/smart/pretty. 衣服漂亮，好看。 It is in fashion now.现在正流行这款。
大小：It is too small/large for me. 对我来说，太大或太小。It is my size. 大小刚刚好。
适合度： It suits me well./ It doesn't suit me at all. 衣服很合适/一点也不合适。
试一试： Would you like to try it/them? Would you like to try it/them on? 要不你试试?
换另外的： Could/Would you show me another one? 给我另外一件，好吗?
