Communicative principle After our country’s joining of WTO，foreign exchanges become increasingly important ,it becomes more and more important for us to use the foreign language in work or life when necessary ,thus communicative English becomes more and more popular in the world .we should know communicative principle as we talk about communicative English .what is communicative principle ?Let’s talk about it. Communicative competence includes both the knowledge about the language and knowledge about how to use language appropriate in communicative situation. There are five components of communicative competence .namely, linguistic competence, pragmatic competence, discourse competence, strategic competence, and fluency. There are some principles of communicative language teaching , Richards and Rodgers agreed upon that there are three principles as follows: 1) Communicative principle: actives that involve real communicative promote learning. 2) Task principle: actives in which language is used for carrying out meaningful tasks promote learning. 3) Meaningfulness principle: language that is meaningful to the learner supports the learning process. We should obey these principle when the communicative is involved . Why people count communicative language so important? One reason is that because it can develop learners’ language skills, namely, listening, speaking, reading and writing. Another reason is that our destination to learn a kind of language is to communicative with people in this language ,not for exam .exam is only a form to check whether we learn well this language .thirdly, we communicate with each other more than reading and writing in our daily life . There are also some insufficient in the application of communicative English. On one hand, the educational system in our country makes us ignore the communicative English and focus on dumb English .we can get high score only through dumb English but not communicative English ,in order to be admitted to a good university ,we will focus our time more on the dumb English .I think the teachers should design more actives for students to communicative with English .moreover ,we can organize some large scale and rich rewarding competition for student to develop their communicative English . On the other hand, the environment around us is not good enough for us to strength our communicative English ,the people around us all speak Chinese ,thus we forget to strength our communicative English .we can encourage students to communicative in English in daily life and check it sometimes. Moreover, we should put the communication in practice and we shouldn’t take it as a form .when the student are doing the activity, they must be concentrating on what they are saying, not how they say it.
