八上： Unit 4 An old man tried to move the mountains （ 听说：P26 ） Teaching aims： Knowledge aims： Let students know about Chinese traditional story， such as Hou Yi shoots the Suns， Journey to the West and so on. They can understand the story about Yu Gong Moves a Mountain. Ability aim： Improve their listening and speaking abilities. Emotional aims： Students know about Chinese traditional culture by learning Chinese traditional storys. And they will raise the awareness about protecting and developing the Chinese traditional culture. Teaching key and difficult points： Key point： Students can master these Knowledge and tell a story after learning. Difficult point： Students can talk about this topic with others and be more interested in learning English. Teaching Procedure： Step 1 Warming up and lead in Greet. Sing a song. Watch a short video about Kua Fu Chases the Sun. Are you familiar with it？ Today we will learn another Chinese traditional story. Step 2 Presentation Draw some pictures on the blackboard. Let students guess the name of the story： Journey to the West， Hou Yi Shoots the Suns. Story Time：Draw pictures and tell the story. 1. Big and high mountains. 2. An old man moved the mountains. 3. After he died， his family continued to move the mountains. 4. A god was moved and helped them take the mountains away. Ask students： How do you think of the story？ Listen to the tape and answer questions： What do they think of the story about Yu Gong？ And why do they think so？ Interesting： a good way to solve his problem，keep trying and didn't give up. A little bit silly： seem impossible， find other ways. Step 3 Practice Role-play the conversation. Discussion： talk about other traditional Chinese story， what happned and your opinions. Step 4 Summary and homework Students said today we have learned the story about Yu Gong and different opinions. We should know more about traditional Chinese story， and we should find ways to solve the problem and never give up like Yu Gong. Homework for you. Must do homework： make a new conversation by using new words and sentences.
