Film review to Dead Poem Society A brief introduction to the major characters First , I'd like to talk about Neil Perry — the male major character in this film , he was always playing the part of the dutiful son , at the beginning , he had a conflict with his father about his dropping out the school annual and he did nothing but followed what he was told . For the second time when he played a role in the film A Midsummer Night ' s Dream which his father was against , then he tended to Mr Keating and was encouraged to have a talk with his father and as a result , he gained the chance to play it . While it wasn't the end , but the beginning . He was droved back home only to be told that he was about to transferred to the Braden Military School which will take him ten years more and he just listened instead of saying a word for himself , he never tried to talk to his father heart to heart , what a tragedy was that he rebelled by committing suicide . While on the other side , he was a talented gay , just as Todd put :"You say something , and the others will listen , but I' m different , I'm not the one like you ." He opened up the society called dead poem society which really had an influence on everyone in . He was also responsible for Todd's changing and played a very good part as a roommate . Then Todd Anderson , Neil's roommate , he was a fresher of that school , he was very shy and not confident of himself , he rarely talked to his classmates , while from the moment he was a member of the dead poem society he started to change and been a real part of the organization . What influenced him most was about to be Mr Keating , he was asked to yawp in one of his class which did help him to strike out and find a new world . He admired the teacher very much so it might account for him to be the first one to stand on his desk and said :"O , Captain , My Captain." Charlie Dalton , he was a gay who did seize the day , he wanted to do something and he really did and he was always the one following his own heart which might be the main reason for his exclusion because he didn't sign on the paper . Knox Overstreet , a brave man as he was , he loved a girl named Chris and he was brave enough to do something for her , like kissing on her forehead even he knew she had a boyfriend what's worse , her boyfriend was just there , and he wrote a poem for her and read it before her classmates . Finally he got a chance to watch the movie with her and was accepted. Richard Cameron , a typical good student from the teachers eyes , during his first class of Mr Keating , he listened very carefully and noted down everything the teacher said . But he was not so welcome in he classmates , he spoke ill of Todd at the beginning and did something really disappointing—betrayed all of them by telling the teachers what exactly the society was and who were in , only to protect himself . He was so selfish . John Keating , their new English teacher , he was fond of teaching and always had fresh ideas about teaching , such as ripping out the first page of their books—The Introduction , standing on the desks to gain a different view , leading them to the courtyard to help the gays to find their own life pace and things like that . He was a free thinker and was always encouraging , he encouraged them to seize the day and live life to its fullest .
